In my previous post, I mentioned that Amazon would be closing their Kindle Vella service for short episodic stories on the 26th (which is today, as of this writing). As promised, here is an update on my decision about the future of my Vella series, Trials of Incomplete Heroes: Forgotten Explorations.

I have chosen to publish the content of this series on my website under the new "Short Stories" section. It will be accessible for free for everyone to read and enjoy. However, I suggest reading at least the first three books in the Trials of Incomplete Heroes series before diving into these short stories. What does this mean for future short stories? Prior to Amazon's announcement, I did have plans to create further short stories to supplement the Trials of Incomplete Heroes universe. With the shuttering of Kindle Vella, my planned avenue of release has been disrupted. At this time, I do not intend to publish further short stories on my website as has been done with Forgotten Explorations, as in plain text on web-pages. This was done for this specific work as it was already largely free and available for anyone. I make no immediate promises, however Forgotten Explorations along with a few other other short stories may appear in their own published collection of short stories at some point in the distant future. Keep in mind, this is an ongoing situation in which I am continuing to weigh my options. Fear not, Forgotten Explorations isn't going anywhere. Rest assured that Trials of Incomplete Heroes will continue to be worked on and receive full novels.
Since I am offering Forgotten Explorations on my website for free, I kindly ask that my intellectual property rights be respected. I retain the right to use, publish, or remove this section as I see fit. It might be included in a future published collection of short stories. Additionally, I request that no part of the story be copied, reproduced, or used to train generative AI beyond what is allowed under fair use, and when citing for fair use, please provide appropriate credit to me and my website.
